Sheila Dwyer Schwartz photo

Sheila Dwyer Schwartz, CFRE
Founder and Principal

Sheila provides expert guidance to nonprofits looking to assess and improve their internal fundraising and capital development platforms. After serving extensively within a multi-billion dollar healthcare organization, and overseeing the development team at an international microfinance organization, Sheila formed Dwyer Philanthropy to help empower more organizations to further their respective missions. Throughout 36 years of service and commitment to the nonprofit sector and philanthropy, Sheila has maintained a track record of strong success. As Chief Philanthropic Officer for Opportunity International with broad responsibility and oversight of 25 fundraising professionals, Sheila and her team raised annual contributions of $24 million dollars, a 25% increase year-over-year. She served as the Chief Philanthropic Officer for ProMedica beginning in 2008 with her ProMedica career spanning nearly 20 years. She transformed individual development offices into a system-wide philanthropic program including fourteen hospitals, a Women’s Philanthropy Council, a Physician Philanthropy Council, and corporate and planned giving programs. Sheila’s leadership developed a fully integrated fundraising model and led to completing 14 project campaigns, significantly increasing donor involvement and philanthropic support, heading a team of nearly 30 fundraising professionals and support staff to build a world-class fundraising platform. She was an Athena Award Recipient in 2005. Most recently, Sheila was awarded the YWCA Milestones Award for outstanding accomplishments and contributions in Northwest Ohio in the area of Business in 2017. A Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) since 1996, Sheila’s education also includes a B.A. of Human Services from Siena Heights University and a Master of Arts (ABT) in Guidance and Counseling from Siena Heights University. Sheila has served and led numerous nonprofit boards over her span of 36 years.
